Online psychotherapy in Ontario

Professional care from a private space that works for you.

Online psychotherapy can make attendance more practical when travel, mobility, scheduling, or distance creates a barrier. It still requires careful planning. Your physical location, privacy, technology, clinical needs, and access to appropriate emergency resources are reviewed before online care begins.

Please do not include private health details in email or voicemail.

01

Online care is more than a video link

The consultation covers the proposed technology, confidentiality limits, communication expectations, backup plans, record keeping, and what to do if a session is interrupted. You can ask questions before consenting to the medium.

02

Your location matters

Professional and legal requirements can depend on where you are physically located during an appointment. Online psychotherapy is offered only when the arrangement is permitted, insured, and appropriate for the client’s circumstances.

03

Privacy should be considered before each session

A private setting, a reasonably secure device and connection, and a plan for interruptions can support confidentiality. Sonder will discuss practical expectations, but no internet based communication can be described as risk free.

Questions about this service

What you may want to know before contacting Sonder.

Can I attend online psychotherapy from anywhere?

Not automatically. Your physical location at the time of service, applicable professional requirements, insurance, privacy, emergency planning, and clinical suitability must be considered.

What happens if the connection fails?

A backup communication plan is discussed before online care begins so both you and the therapist know what to do if technology interrupts a session.

Are online sessions private?

Sonder uses appropriate safeguards and discusses technology risks and privacy expectations. You also need a setting where you can speak privately and a device and connection you consider reasonably secure.
